What if there was a different way that you, tutors and mentors could decipher emotional blocks in order to help student's work through those moments on their own to later benefit their overall success as a student and a young adult?
Emotional Intelligence.
For most adolescents, attention span, patience and overall perseverance is lacking compared to an adult. Teaching coping skills at a young learning age is a wonderful investment of your time.
I've found this amazing Ted Talk from Olympia Della Flora, speaking on the behalf of this matter. She shares creative tactics she used to help struggling, sometimes disruptive students in the school she worked at. Crucial tactics such as: stopping for brain breaks, singing songs and even doing yoga poses, etc. "Small changes make huge differences, and it's possible to start right now ... You simply need smarter ways to think about using what you have, where you have it," says Olympia.
These tactics are necessary for growth for all people, we ALL need mental breaks, we ALL need to slow down in order to regroup.
